George III rosewood sofa table by Gillows – SOLD
Outstanding George III rosewood sofa table by Gillows , similar to a pair supplied by Gillows of Oxford Street in 1803 to Stephen Tempest of Broughton Hall, North Yorkshire. See Gillows of London by Susan E. Stuart, illustration page 264.
The top is in beautifully figured rosewood with wide crossbanding in makore wood, an exotic wood from the west African rainforest, and the top, drawers,arched stretcher and elegant ,downswept end supports have satinwood and ebony stringing.
Regency Period. about 1803 in date.
