J. Roger Antiques, London, has been selling fine, small, period furniture since Carolyn Bayley’s mother Joan Roger started the business in the 1960s. Concentrating on the late 18th century, the Sheraton Period, popular because of the elegance and simplicity of design and the colour and figuring of the wood.

For instance in our Sold Archive you will see a pair of George III mahogany crossbanded half round tables of the Sheraton Period, c1790. They are much sought after as they give a room a balanced elegance when placed either side of the fireplace or perhaps either side of something like the late 18th century Bookshelf with shaped sides the shelves and a cupboard below.
